SUMMARY
Distribution: Central Indo-Pacific realm. Northwest Australian Shelf province (?, see comment below). Temperate Australasia realm. Southwest Australian Shelf province, West Central Australia Shelf province.
Reported from Tasmania but apprently not occurring there. Widmer (1981) reported and illustrated the species from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Western Indo-Pacific realm. Western Indian Ocean province. A record from SE Bali, Indonesia (Central Indo-Pacific realm. Western Coral Triangle province. Lesser Sunda ecoregion, RV 4122) needs confirmation.
It is regarded as a valid species by all contemporary authors. Its northern distribution, however, is unclear as the congeneric Acutoliva panniculata kurzi (Petuch & Sargent, 1986) is frequently identified as this species.
