"Shells of medium size for genus, cylindrical, with straight sides and conspicuously rounded shoulders; colors in shades of browns and yellows, with banded patterns; spires very flattened, often covered with enamel; columellar plications small, generally well-developed. Generally a deeper water group.".
Name-Bearing Type:
Type species by original designation: Oliva rufula Duclos, 1835. The type species was described later: Oliva rufula Duclos, 1840, and should be emended accordingly. Type fixation valid according to art. 67.7 of the Code.
