Ancillista Iredale, 1936

A genus of generally large and thin-shelled species of which extant species occur in the Central Indo-Pacific realm (tropical Australia), Western Indo-Pacific realm (Mozambique) and Temperate Australasia realm (temperate eastern Australia). Type species is Ancillista velesiana Iredale, 1936 (see below).

An odd species, Ancillista depontesi Kilburn, 1998, was described from off South Africa (Temperate Southern Africa realm. Algulhas province). Its status should be re-examined.
