General description:

Distribution: Western Indo-Pacific realm. West and South Indian Shelf province. Central Indo-Pacific realm. Sunda Shelf province (Madura, Indonesia). Western Coral Triangle province. Palawan ecoregion (Palawan, Philippines, Sabah). Eastern Philippines ecoregion ((Philippines). Sahul Shelf province (N Western Australia). Northwest Australian Shelf province.

RV 1129. Indonesia, East Java, Madura Island; in shallow water; 2007. Scale bar is 1 cm. Specimen with colour and pattern much resembling Miniaceoliva hirasei (Kuroda & Habe, 1952).

RV 0521b. Philippines, Negros Island, by diver, shallow water, 2018. Scale bar is 1 cm.

Original description(s):

"O. Cylindrica, bifasciata, lineis flexuosis fusco luteîs subreticulata; spirâ acuniinatâ; columella basi subcarneâ. Cette olive est élégamment ornée de lignes en zigzag, serrées, brunes et bordées d'un jaune orangé, disposées sur un fond blanchâtre. Deux zones réticulées et un peu rembrunies la traversent. L'ouverture est blanche, mais la base de la columelle est teinte de couleur de chair. Longueur, 5 centimètres.". Refers to Martini, 1773: Pl. 51 fig. 561. Recent. No locality given.

Original description(s):

"Jolie variété d'un jaune d'or ou orangé, unicolore ou laissant apercevoir un dessin très effacé. Sa forme élancée et sa spire haute à suture bien dégagée, la rapprochent beaucoup de la variété zeilanica (Lamarck) Philippi dont elle ne diffère que par la coloration. Aussi s'explique-t-on difficilement que Reeve et Marrat l'aient réunie à l'O. irisans (Lamarck) Duclos, dont la spire aplatie est entièrement recouverte par une callosité. Ducros a cité avec doute, comme variétés de l'O.tremulina, les O. obtusaria et O.hepatica, mais il est impossible d'identifier ces noms de Lamarck dont les descriptions sont insuffisantes et qui ne sont accompagnés d'aucune référence.". "A light yellow form with only a slight trace of the markings constitutes the var. cryptospira Ford, which merges into a dark brown form resembling tenebrosa, see Thes. Conch., IV, pi. 9, fig. 126 (var. fordi n. var.). These varietal names are given merely for convenience in referring to these extreme forms.". Refers to Marrat, 1871: Pl. 9 fig. 126.

Original description(s):

"Shell cylindrical, slightly enlarged near either end, producing an obese appearance. Salmon-colored, with a few dashes of white accompanied by faint zigzag brownish lines showing through the enamel, the latter being somewhat thickened and more orange in color on the basal fasciole. Spire short, with sutures entirely concealed by a heavy callus. Edge of lip and interior of aperture white. Length of type specimen 2¼ inches. Greatest diameter 1 inch.". Recent. Moluccas.
