This species most closely resembles Ancilla optima Sowerby, 1897, which occurs in the same region. It has, however, a white ancillid band, where optima has an ancillid band in the same colour as the body whorl. Furthermore, it has a white edge bordering the primary spire callus where optima has a thin dark coloured line.
