Original description(s):
"This species is very like gulosa Fleming but it is distinguished by the following characters: body whorl strongly retracted to suture, but not as swollen as in gulosa; aperture longer, outer lip less convex. Spire mucronate as in gulosa. Callus margin markedly concave from top of columella to the pronounced throat, thence stronglty convex to top of spire. Height, 54.7 mm.; diameter, 25.5 mm. (holotype). Height, 56.8 mm.; diamater, 27.6 mm. (paratype).". Pliocene. Waipipi, New Zealand.
