SUMMARY
Distribution: Tempereate Northern Atlantic realm. Warm temperate Northwest Atlantic province (Northern Gulf of Mexico). Tropical Atlantic realm. Tropical Northwestern Atlantic province.
Oliva dealbata Reeve neither is a junior primary homonym of Porphyria dealbata Röding, 1798, nor a junior secondary homonym because the latter is assignable to a genus in the subfamily Olivinae and not to one in the Olivellinae. As Oliva dealbata Reeve, 1850, has page priority over O. monilifera Reeve, 1850, accepting the latter as the name to be used for this species (Sterba, 2004: 124) based on the supposed homonymy discussed above is erroneous.
