SUMMARY
Distribution: Central Indo-Pacific realm. Sahul Shelf province (Arafura Sea, Timor Sea). Western Coral Triangle province (Philippines).
The largest extant ancillariid, with shells reachin a maximum length of over 10cm. Australian specimens originate from waters around shallows in the eastern Arafura Sea (Ashmore Reef) and Timor Sea (Bathurst Island, Scott Reef) where fishery activities out of Port Hedland and Darwin blossomed during the 1980's and 1990's.

This taxon was described as a subspecies of Ancillaria vernedei Sowerby, 1859, an enigmatic species of which only very few specimens are known.
