SUMMARY
A genus of large species presently distributed along the West African coastline from Senegal in the north, south to Angola. Also present in Cabo Verde (Tropical Atlantic realm. Gulf of Guinea province, West African Transition province). Four valid extant species are recognised and it ranges back at least to the upper Oligocene (France, Aquitaine Basin).
The type species is Oliva acuminata Lamarck, 1811 .
