The West African Transitional province of the Tropical Atlantic realm covers tow ecoregions: 79 (Cape Verde) and 80 (Sahelian Upwelling; Cabo Blanco, Mauritania, southward covering the coastlines of Senegal and The Gambia) and shelters a very limited number of Olivoidea only, all belonging to the Olividae.
The marine gastropod fauna of Cabo Verde was recently monographed by Rolán (2005).
